"Alone"


Big bangs,
Loud noises,
Little sleep,
I ache in every bone,
I feel so alone,
Bodies scattered everywhere,
Mangled lifeless corpses,
My best friend lays beside me,
Missing an arm, hand, and half his face,
Sometimes I think I hear him moan,
Oh I feel so alone,
As I hear screams,
And cries of agony and pain,
I wonder if I'll get to go home,

I've been wet for way to long,
My feet feel kind of sore,
I hope nothing is wrong,
I feel like dying from all this stress,
I don't know how long I can take it,
Oh no! I've been instructed,
to charge the enemy's side,
I do as I am told, and rise up over the top,
I stare down the barrel of a machine gun,
Then watch the enemy pull the trigger,
I fall next to my best friend,
Oh I feel so alone...
